When the XT4 first burst onto the market five years ago, it turned a lot of heads and it continues to do so. It takes the all-encompassing grandeur of the Escalade and crams it into a sporty subcompact package, and it’s no shocker that it’s claimed a spot on the shortlist of best small luxury SUVs.

Now that we’ve had some time to enjoy all the mid-cycle updates, here are just a few of your local South Carolina car dealer’s most beloved features.

That New Facelift

It was already quite the looker, but the 2024 version got its fair share of subtle tweaks that make it even more appealing, while still retaining its defining character of course.

The lower cladding in the front is reshaped—it now features a lot more geometry, with hexagonal panels on either side and a more cohesive look. Headlights also got a big glow-up in the looks department, with LEDs now spanning all the way to the grille and the headlamps slung a bit lower.

In addition to its overall appearance, the XT4 can be fitted with a variety of new wheel designs, and it sports three new paint color options: Deep Sea Metallic, Emerald Lake Metallic, and Midnight Sky Metallic. Other available XT4 exterior colors include Crystal White Tricoat, Radiant Red Tintcoat, Latte Metallic, Argent Silver Metallic, and Stellar Black Metallic.

Upgraded Tech

Step inside, and the main thing you’re liable to notice is the new and improved infotainment setup, which is very similar to the one found in recent bestsellers like the LYRIQ. The full color touch screen display measures 33 inches diagonally. Some of us grew up with TVs smaller than that.

There’s plenty of processing power to back it up, too. The screen has 9K resolution, and the interface is customizable and runs lag-free with both Google built-in and Amazon Alexa. It also comes complete with 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability, plus an optional upgrade to a 14-speaker AKG Studio sound system.

Infotainment tech isn’t all that’s been improved upon. The Cadillac Smart System of driver assistance features is still standard across all trims, and the available Active Safety Package now has Intersection Automatic E-Braking, Speed Limit Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition, as well as an improved version of the Lane Keeping Assist with Lane Departure Warning.

A Simplified Selection

Unlike some luxury brands that make picking your preferred perks an SAT-like task, the XT4 boasts a pared-down range of trims you don’t need to study for: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport.

All three come with their own distinctive design features inside and out, and all have an impressive list of standard and available accompaniments that make customizing your ride easy. You can recognize the Luxury trim by its laser-etched Piano Black interior trim, while the Premium Luxury gets aluminum and the Sport gets carbon fiber. Both higher-level editions can also be kitted with real wood accents.

The singular engine is carried over from last year as well, making the decision process that much easier. It’s rocking a 2.0-liter turbocharged deal, which is paired with a 9-speed automatic with electronic shift control. Buyers have their choice of front-wheel drive or twin-clutch all-wheel drive, and a Driver Mode Selector with Tour, Sport, and Snow-Ice modes is standard.

Fantastic Value

When you think of the Cadillac brand, “cheap” isn’t a word that ever pops up. However, the XT4 is eminently affordable, especially given the extent of its luxe features and quality materials.
